September 7, 2007 - Friday | the Tracks of my tears Current mood: nostalgic Category: Music Sometimes I wonder if I'll ever listen to a song without it bringing up some kind of memory or thought...
Tonight has been a night of catching up with old bands, hearing new formations of bands, discovering new bands... and well just about anything but sleeping.
I probably could list them all here now for you if I didn't see the clock and realise I must get some sleep before a long day tomorrow.
Hey, if you are actually reading this... think about what song you would use as your "Theme" for life... and make a comment. I'm curious... sounds like something cool to discuss.
Tonight I wrote to someone who's theme song I first heard on the Crimson & Blue (the one pictured below is "blue" a remix of types) album by Phil Keaggy... "John the Revelator". One of the things I most cherish in my life is Phil Keaggy's Beyond Nature cd... If I had to do it all over again, I probably would still have used this cd while the people were being seated at my wedding in Australia. Though now that I have lost my spouse it does bring bittersweet tears. Life is strange that way.
And the title of this blog post... I remember hearing Johnny Waters singing this ever since I was a little girl (I know Smokey Robinson did it too... but it is the Johnny Waters version I hear so vividly)...
"People say I'm the life of the party 'cause I tell a joke or two. Although I may be laughing loud and hearty, deep inside I'm blue. So take a good look at my face, you'll see the smile looks out of place if you look closer it's easy to trace the tracks of my tears..."
Regards, Mon
And now the tracks of my tears... sometimes I think crying is actually the "pure water" mentioned in the following verse...
"Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful" (Hebrews 10:22-23). | Currently listening : Blue By Phil Keaggy Release date: 29 March, 1994 | 1:16 AM |
